I was feeding my appetite for history recently, when I began reading the stories of the great Carthaginian commander, Hannibal, when he spoke the above. The Latin to English translation is "I will either find a way or make one."  He is credited with this response when his generals told him it was impossible to cross the Alps into Italy, by elephant, during the Second Punic War (around 218 BC). This turned out to be one of Hannibal's greatest achievements in a military career that earns him praise today as one of history's great strategists.

Agency Planning: Joy in the Journey!

We did it! As I came around the corner, I could see the finish line not even a block away.

Hundreds of people cheering for the finishers of the Ironman. 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles on the bike, and 26.2 miles of running. Blisters on the bottom of both feet, sweat pouring down my face as 14 hours of racing had taken it's toll on the body. The adrenaline sparked and I lengthened my stride to finish strong. I caught a glimpse of my family waiting for me as I finished with signs held high in the air as I literally fell into their arms. Tears came to my eyes as we accomplished something I had set out to do almost three full years prior. (I say 'we' because anyone who has accomplished a mighty goal for themselves, has rarely done so alone. There is always someone behind them supporting their effort...but that's another blog!)

Recently, I had the rare pleasure of a vacation. I mean a real vacation. The kind where you return physically, spiritually and mentally better for being there. It is what a vacation should be. My beautiful bride and I went to the Dominican Republic, as we have been there several times before and it is a favorite getaway for us. It was on the return trip I witnessed something exciting in an average transaction.
