1. STOP IT TO MOVE FORWARD!

It's 2015 and many things have changed in the insurance industry. Our employees have more differences than any time in history. Insurance products are more complex as risks become more complex. Buyer behaviors continue to evolve. Most of all, many old techniques that seem logical and used to work, are no longer effective. 
 
So, we need to stop some stuff and start doing some other things. 

STOP

Stop carrot and stick management. Carrot and stick models work very well in entry level positions and with low performing non motivated employees. If those are the types of people you want in your staff, continue to manage in that manner. 
 

2. WOW THEM WITH YOUR CLIENT EXPERIENCE!

Recently, I had the rare pleasure of a vacation. I mean a real vacation. The kind where you return physically, spiritually and mentally better for being there. It is what a vacation should be. My beautiful bride and I went to the Dominican Republic, as we have been there several times before and it is a favorite getaway for us. It was on the return trip I witnessed something exciting in an average transaction.

4. BUILDING AGENCY CULTURE WITH LANGUAGE

LANGUAGE DRIVES CULTURE…I’m not sure if there is a more powerful phrase in life. The language we use determines the culture of our team, our workplace, our family, EVERYTHING. Language builds you up or tears you down. Words help you achieve goals you never thought possible or paralyze you in disbelief.  How we communicate with our clients and our colleagues, results in either a remarkable or unremarkable experience. Unfortunately, most organizations tend to forget or not invest in this important culture shaping detail.

5. INSURANCE NETWORKING: WHERE IRON SHARPENS IRON!

InCite recently held our bi-annual Extreme Networking event in Las Vegas where the brightest minds in the insurance & risk management industry from across North & South America gathered together to share ideas and improve themselves and their brokerages.
